Climbing the Munros, Corbetts, Donalds and Grahams is by no means a race. However, it is a personal goal of mine to climb them all at some stage. If I dont think Ill get a view from the top then I generally dont leave the house - what's the point in standing at the cairn saying "another hill ticked" when the rain is dripping down your neck and all you can see is the cairn and your feet? I know this is the complete opposite of how many walkers view their hillclimbing pursuits, and I agree that it's good to get a fair mix of weather for experience, but...where's the fun? Considering the percentage of good days versus bad in the Scottish outdoors, I dont think Im doing too badly. The graphs (see links on the left) give an indication of my progress to-date. I'm not climbing "just for ticks", but I've always been fascinated by statistics, and have maintained these stats since my first ascent. Latest Hills News
I've removed a lot of junk from the website. So if you are looking for something and you can no longer find it, it's gone!
I've updated their Google Maps feature. As well as using Google's new API, I now also have a feature to show all the hills for a given "trip" e.g. Fisherfield)
I've added to my Soapbox section, this time moaning about Memory-Map.
We've just had a superb day on Lochnagar. The hill was busy as expected, but the summit was clear and we ahd excellent views. Bitterly cold wind on the top though!
I've made some changes to the Scottish Hills pages. You can now display the "proximity" information for all types of hills, and you can control the distances involved, e.g. just show hills within 20Km. You can also generate a PDF with this information. Single hill ascents are also available as a PDF, and they now included details of ascended Tops where appropriate.
On the Hills pages (Munros, Corbetts, Donalds and Grahams) you can now group my ascents according to the actual trip. e.g. Aonach Mor and Aonach Beag can be displayed together.
You can now find the distance and bearing of any Munro, Corbett, Donald and Graham from any other Munro, Corbett, Donald or Graham. Next on thie list is a "combined" version!
